Having started BODYTEK Fitness out of my garage in 2010 to operating several studios with mostly full classes, the Coronavirus shutdown came as a sudden shock to me.  For about 1 minute. Having to quarantine myself in my house I quickly began to think about how I started and what my members were going through.  How could I help them?  How can I continue to coach?  How can I keep everything together?

What my members needed was to maintain their connection to our program, but from home.  BODYTEK Online was born 1 day after we were forced to temporarily close our studio doors. From the relative safety of my house I never lost touch with my members. In fact, new opportunities to connect on a personal level with my members and many new viewers from all around the world started happening strait away.

My A-ha moment came when teaching a live class and watching my members type comments to me on a large monitor while I was instructing the virtual class. I could respond to people

in real time the same way I do when teaching to a packed room.  Suddenly everything changed. I was able to offer Watch Parties where I could explain my workouts in a way I never could while teaching a live class. I have guest coaches, members, and even offer a cooking show from my own kitchen!

Members send me videos of themselves doing the at home workouts. I am getting to know my members even more now and really having fun. I wake up every day thinking of new ways to deliver my message and help people.  1 month into the quarantine we observed that dumbbells could not purchase online, so we decided to loan the studio dumbbells to our members.  Now they can follow along with our workouts from home.

With luck our studios will open in the near future. I plan on maintaining our online offerings for those not quite ready to return to the studios, for our traveling members, and for the new connections we have made.  I honestly believe everything happens for a reason and feel blessed by the support our members have shown us and we are excited about the future.
